I still remember receiving the first paycheck I earned as the Purdue University Campus Correspondent for BusinessWeek's Guide to Careers. It was amazing to get paid for meeting interesting new people and sharing their stories.

Today, I am fortunate to continue doing that as a freelance writer.

Working primarily for The Times Media Company, I have been given the great opportunity to cover all aspects of the real estate market in Northwest Indiana - from the boom years leading up to the crash, right on through to the recovery that continues today.

In addition, I also work with the area's major employers, small businesses, nonprofits and local governmental agencies to tell their stories.

That's still the best part of my job - listening and learning to share great stories.
